Here at Avatar Kennels, the emphasis  is on soundness. We strive to produce Australian Cattle Dogs that have sound movement, temperament and herding instinct. This is done by very careful selection of breeding stock, making sure that we are honest to ourselves and our breed by admitting the strengths and weaknesses in all. Producing quality dogs is often a balancing act, but it is one that we are committed to. Our line is derived from Heelerhill Australian Cattle Dogs. Our foundation bitch is Ch. Heelerhill's Heelin Hanna CD, QW. Her proud lineage contains many National Specialty winners overthe last 20 years, including her father's win in 1988 (BISS Ch. Heelerhill Crocodile Dingo). She is a substantial bitch, with a combination of grace and sound movement that is rare to find. Hanna has had a very limited show career, but is able to claim a Herding Group 3 placement, First Place Novice A Obedience at the 1992 and 1994 ACDCA National Specialties, winner of the Best Gaited property class at the 1992 ACDCA National Specialty, and winner of the Best Headed Bitch Property Class at the 1996 ACDCA National Specialty.
 

The first son of Avatar Kennels is Calvin, Ch. Avatar's High Caliber Impact, PT, QW. Calvin's sire is Ch. Heelerhil Jaspers Work of Art CD, VQW, and his dam is Hanna. Calvin has had multiple Best of Breed placements, both from the classes, and since the completion of his championship. One of his best moments was being placed Reserve Winners Dog at the 1995 ACDCA National Specialty under renowned Australian Judge/Breeder Connie Redhead. Calvin recently sired his first litter out of  CH Katwala's D'Liteful Dalliance CD, HS, VQW http://www.cattledog.com/katwala/dally.html and it looks like it will be a superstar litter. In addidition, Calvin was recently bred to CH Katwala's Spirit of the Wind http://www.cattledog.com/katwala/moriah.html so look for those pups in a show, herding, obedience or agility ring near you!

On the performance side of things we have Wolfie, Avatars Curse A Blue Streak. Wolfie is occasionally shown in breed, but spends most of his time training for competition obedience. He is shown here recently winning Best of Winners for a 5 Point Major. Be sure to keep an eye out for him at as he works his way through his obedience degrees.

Looking to the future we have Ripple, Katwalas Pretty Hate Machine. Ripple is out of CH Katwala's D'Liteful Dalliance CD, HS, VQW  and Calvin and is one her way to competition in conformation, herding and obedience while her parents work on their own herding titles.

All of our breeding dogs have been BAER tested,  checked for hip dysplasia, and are repeatedly checked for PRA. We provide a written guarantee of the health of all puppies we  produce, and all of our litters our BAER tested. We do the best we can to match the needs of the prospective owner with the right personality cattle dog. We will not sell a puppy that is not right for its intended home. As we previously said, we do not have a litter planned at this time. We will update this website with further information when we decide on the next litter.
