ANYA
This is Anya. She's a Queensland Heeler mix and lives with Bev and Doug Smay in San Diego, California. She was one year old on 4-10-04. She was adopted from an animal shelter and unfortunately little is known of her lineage, including what other breeds may be included in her mix. She's a wonderful dog and her humans love her to pieces. She's highly intelligent and like all Australian Cattle Dogs she craves human companionship and attention. She follows her owners everywhere, loves to play ball and tug of war, is quite affectionate and intensely loyal. She gets along very well with other dogs, and loves to go to "Dog Beach" where she enjoys wading and swimming in the surf. She seems to have an endless store of energy and a fairly well developed herding instinct. Sometimes she even attempts to herd her humans. Her name derives from the Australian term "Good On You", which evolved into "Good On Ya" and eventually just "Onya". Her humans feminized the spelling to Anya.
