This is Barney, a mix between a Queensland Heeler and a Lab. He is a little over a year old and was acquired from the Prescott, Arizona Dog Pound on March 20, 2007. We were fortunate to get him as he was put up for adoption just hours before we saw him. No one knows his background because the Pound picked him up on a trail in the Verde Valley area of Arizona two weeks before we adopted him. He had to be nuetered before we could take him home. He was very timid and scared when we saw him and we visited him every day for 10 days before we could take him to a Vet and then home. We walked him around the pound so he would get used to us and a lease. He is very smart and loves to run. Almost daily we take him to a nearby dog park and he gets along well with other dogs. Unfortunately he seems to have some hip problems and we are trying to work that out. He loves to retrieve balls and now he brings in the paper every morning. AND he loves to chew.
