LUKE

Lulu is our first ACD, and we're in love. Here she is climbing the Everest of our couch, shortly after we adopted her from the Asheville, North Carolina animal shelter. They said she had such a good temperament at under three months that they took her to a nursing home for elder therapy. We really know why they call these dogs heelers. It's a rare moment when she is not at my feet. Now she is coming up on nine months, and weighs about 40 pounds. Her best toy is the plastic lid of a coffee creamer bottle, and her favorite activities are fetching a stick or hiking the mountain trails with us. I guess the best things in life are free! Once in a while we have Mommy and Daddy's night out, and she waits for us in her lavishly appointed dog run with triple doggy condo lined in straw. It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it.
