Sam's a ACD/Beagel mix I picked up at a 'no kill' shelter in the NW burbs of Chicago. I was told at that time he was five years of age. He's fourteen years old now and still full of spunk! At the shelter they had him posted as unfriendly to children and always to be kept leashed? I've found him just the opposite! We constantly go on 'uncollared' walks in the preserves and although his eye site isn't the best.. I'd be constantly supplied with food from what he scares up out of the brush! He doesn't kill his prey when he catches it but holds on to it till I arrive. He's caught rabbits and pheasant.. which I always make him release. He's only had one run in with a skunk.. and 'cried' while holding on to it until I yelled at him to release it.. what a mess!
