Welcome to the Australian Cattle Dog Health Testing Information Database!

Back by popular request!

This search service currently contains up-to-date information on the Australian Cattle Dogs in OFA's Hip, Elbow, Cardiac and PRCD Databases, many of the Australian Cattle Dogs that have received certifications from the Canine Eye Research Foundation and BAER (Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response) testing information submitted by the owners of tested dogs.

In searching, you may enter a name, a part of a name, or a kennel name. For instance, a search for "Katwala" will return information on Katwala's My Special Agent as well as Dreamtimes Katwala Warpaint (among several others). Case is not significant.

You may also search for the offspring from a particular sire or dam. For full Pedigree Information Research, see the ACD Pedigree Finder,

Please select how you'd like to search, then enter the name:

By Name:
By Sire:
By Dam:

PLEASE NOTE that hip and eye testing information for this database that has NOT been recorded through the OFA or the CERF databases will be added to the database ONLY if a copy of the report is sent to the Webmaster for verification. OFFICIAL copies of each report you want included in this database (and the Pedigree Finder) should be sent to: Katherine Buetow, 305 South Bryan Street, Sidney, Illinois 61877 USA. Be sure that the dogs name and registration number are CLEARLY marked on the report and that somewhere in the info you include the owner and/or breeders name (and an email address for contact). DO NOT scan in copies of reports and send them via email....they will NOT be accepted!!

As of November 2004 I have updated the Health Testing database to include obligates. This has been, needless to say, a VERY time consuming process and has GREATER potential for error that other data entry. Please email me if you find an error in this database and I will correct it immediately!

The information on the linked pages is the hip rating information from the databases of the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for all Australian Cattle Dogs that have received a fair or better rating.

An OFA Number can be read as follows:
(example) ACD0000734ACD-734E29M-T

The first digits are OFA's record keeping numbers along with the second "ACD-###" The next letter will be either "E", "G" or "F" representing "EXCELLENT", GOOD" or "FAIR" (the hip rating itself). The next number is the age of the dog (in months) when he/she was x-rayed. This number is followed by either an "M" (for "MALE") or an "F" (for "FEMALE") . If the dog was tattooed (providing positive identification) at the time of the x-ray, the end of the OFA number will be a "-T".

The dog in the example above was a Male who was tattooed, was x-rayed at 29 months of age and who received a rating of EXCELLENT

Keep in mind the following facts when viewing these pages:

  • The titles seen on some of the dogs are the titles earned only at the time the dog was x-rayed.
  • There are some dogs that we have caught that do not have a rating. These seem to be the earliest dogs registered with OFA. Owners wishing to update these numbers can submit a copy of their OFA certificate to the webmaster (email for address if needed).
  • Neither the OFA, the ACDCA or the maintainer if these web pages can assure you 100% that the dogs taken in for x-ray and recorded are truly the dogs said to be x-rayed without tattoo or microchip identification. Trust in your breeder is vital.
  • This is a complete listing as of the Fall of 2000. If a breeder claims to have had their dogs OFA certified and they do not appear on this list, be sure to ask to see an original copy of their OFA certificates.
  • Dogs who have been rated by the OFA as borderline or Dysplastic do NOT receive OFA numbers.....beware breeders who say that their breeding stock is "OFA'ed" without providing copies of certificates. Dogs who fail OFA have at the very least been submitted to the OFA.

The information on the linked pages is the hip rating information from the databases of the Canine Eye Research Foundation (CERF) for all Australian Cattle Dogs that have received a CERF certification number. It also includes data from ACDs in other countries who don't use CERF (the US registry). Keep in mind the following facts when viewing these pages:

  • Eye Certification should be done ANNUALLY on ACDs in breeding animals and until as late in life as possible after that.
  • There are many anomalies that restrict an animal from obtaining a CERF number that do NOT mean that a dog or bitch has a heritable eye disease (ex. Cataracts).
  • There are a number of breeders and/or owners that do not pay the fee to have their dogs registered with CERF even though their animals have been tested. Please ask for copies of their dogs exam sheets.
  • Neither CERF, the ACDCA or the maintainer if these web pages can assure you 100% that the dogs taken in for CERF exams and recorded are truly the dogs said to be examined without tattoo or microchip identification. Trust in your breeder is vital.

The BAER information on the linked pages has been submitted voluntarily by individual dog owners. There is no registry for hearing testing in the U.S. Data is presented with the date of testing along with an "N" for Normal (bilateral) Hearing, a "U" for Unilateral Hearing of a "D" for a dog that was tested as bilaterally deaf.
