MEET ISHMAEL:
Ishmael and her sister were picked up wandering in traffic by a good Samaritan traveling with their own dog and asked if we could take them in. Our shelter was closing and we were over-crowded without one room, kennel, or crate to spare. As I watched these lovely pups with the loose cats in our lobby, their smiling faces begging me for any smidge of attention, I wondered what to do. They had even shared traveling space with their rescuer’s Bernese Mt dog in the back of an SUV. What choice did I have, I brought them home. My Pug and cat would have to understand (they did). It was obvious these Heelers had never seen a leash before, but accepted it quickly. The poor things had to spend the night in a crate together. They accepted their fate quickly and quieted readily. They spent a few days at my home in the evenings and I brought them to the center where I work during the day. I had notified our local animal control immediately expecting someone would claim these young, well behaved beauties, but no one did. Now they are neutered and spayed, tested for heartworm (neg), been wormed, have had their inoculations and available for adoption. The red male pictured is abounding with love/
It just pours from him. All he wants is a few kind words and a gentle touch. He is smart and yearns to do whatever is asked of him. He will smother you with gentle kisses if you let him. He is easily learning basic obedience, is good in a crate, and does not pull on lead.

MEET ADRIANN:
Adriann and her brother were picked up wandering in traffic by a good Samaritan traveling with their own dog and asked if we could take them in. She looks right into your eyes for direction, just waiting for you to explain what is expected of her. She is well behaved on lead and is quickly acquiring basic obedience skills. Most of all she has tremendous love.
