MEET BONNIE:
Bonnie is a beautiful plain-faced female cattle dog. Bonnie is
very smart and driven. When she came to rescue she was a mess.
She stole food from the counter, she bounced off the walls, she
chased the cat. Basically, she was an adolecent cattle dog with
no formal training. In addition, it turns out that Bonnie is
deaf, but since she came to live with her fabulous foster mom on
Halloween she has learned some manners and hand signals! She,
now, knows sit and down and that she must sit before going
outside or in. Bonnie has come a long way since the first day out
of the shelter. She is no longer stealing from the counters or
bouncing off the walls. Bonnie gets along with the other dogs in
the house but thinks the cats are toys made just for her
enjoyment. She has never hurt them, but will give chase if the
opportunity presents itself. She is a loving dog and is very
treat motivated. Bonnie would be a great agility dog! She is very
fast and has a high vertical jump. Bonnie is being fostered in
Mt. Juliet, TN

MEET FRECKLES:
This is Freckles; her birthday is Jan' 07; she will be 2 yrs
old. She is current on all shots, heartworm negative, etc. She
would make a good kids dog, likes cats, crates well and would
suggest being a house dog. Loves to be with you. Freckles does OK
in the dog pen, but will see if there is a way out when left all
the time. I haven't checked her on sheep, but she is
currently housed at the barn with the sheep & seems
interested. Seems to do OK with the other dogs. Freckles has an
ACD build, but may have some Aussie as she has some longer hair.

MEET MERLIN:
Merlin, aka six, was rescued from a North Georgia animal control
facility where he landed because he strayed from home. He is only
about one-year old. Merlin is really a handsome rascal with a
beautiful silver-blue coat and black eye patches. This boy
absolutely loves people, gets on quite well with the other dogs
here, and is doing well with his crate training.

MEET READY:
Ready is a beautiful example of a red speckled, half-masked
Australian Cattle Dog. Ready is a deaf boy who has thoroughly
impressed his foster parents with his intelligence and eagerness
to bond with a human. He is between 1 and 1 1/2 years old and
weighs 39 pounds and his tail is docked. Ready's background
and reason for deafness are unknown. Ready is all Cattle Dog. He
is very energetic, curious, very intelligent, bold and very
velcro and wants nothing more than to be with us ALL the time.
Ready is very social and submissive, and extra cuddly for a
Cattle Dog, but also very determined and assertive. He seems to
be exceptionally smart and in only a few sessions has already
started to learn the sign language signs for look, come and sit.
He has only been in a foster home for a week, so he is not yet
completely crate or potty trained, although he does spend time in
his crate. Ready shows evidence that he may get along well with
other dogs once he knows them, but he has also shown some
guardedness by snapping at other dogs in his first few days in a
foster home. This is not unusual for a Cattle Dog due to their
assertive nature, and may disappear once he adjusts to his new
environment. So far Ready has done no more than wag his tail at
our cats, but because he is truly a Cattle Dog in all other
respects, one will need to use caution when he is near cats.
Ready's foster parents believe that he has great potential
and would like to see someone adopt him who will help him be all
he can be. He might make a great agility or obedience dog for
that person who is willing to train him with sign language. He
will certainly make a very velcro and loyal companion.

MEET SHADOW:
Shadow is young, red, female, about 18 month old. She landed in
an Ohio Animal Control facility. We thought she was a really nice
example of the breed and arranged he rescue. Shadow is getting on
well with her kennel mate and the other dogs here. She is very
smart and very affectionate. This young ACD girl is a sponge that
will tak to any activity you choose to train her for. Michael had
her at a gate with cattle in the pasture beyond. Shadow's
ears came up, her eyes lit up, and she started to go under the
gate like she was going to bring in the cows. We'll
definitely be instinct testing this red dynamo in the very near
future. She''l need a yard with a tall fence because she
can jump a 4 ft. chain link.

MEET RANGER TOO:
This is Ranger, too. He is the second Ranger that we have had in
the program and just like the first, he is sweet, smart and very
athletic. Ranger, too, has a full tail and appears to be
purebred. He is a stunning and wonderful young dog. Ranger is,
approximately, one year old, so is still very full of life and
energy. He was an “owner surrender” to a local animal
control facility, as he was too energetic for his elderly owner.
He would do best in a home with someone who is cattle dog savy
and willing to provide the structure and discipline that a smart,
young dog craves. He knows basic obediance, like "sit",
"down" and "come", but he is learning other
useful commands like "back" and "stay".
Ranger is neutered; he is, also, heartworm negative and
vaccinated against rabies and distemper/parvo.

MEET LIL JOE:
Li'l Joe was rescued from animal control facility in North
Carolina. He's a nice looking blue boy with a docked tail.
Li'l Joe has an easy going demeanor. This boy passes all the
temperment tests with flying colors. He will allow us to touch
his feet, look at his teeth, and roll him over for a belly rub.
Li'l Joe walks easily on a loose lead, rides great in the
car, and crates up without protest when it's time for bed. He
gets along fine with other dogs. Li'l Joe is neutered,
up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for heartorm, wormed, and
ready for a new home.

MEET BADGER:
Badger is a six year old blue male that was turned in to a
Kentucky shelter because he killed chickens. Yet another example
of why cattledogs should not be loose on the farm without
supervision. Badger is a great dog! He has a gentle temperament
and loves people. He has shown absolutely no agression towards
other dogs either. We introduced Badger to sheep and he went
right to work like he had been herding all his life. With
training Badger could make an excellent farm hand, or trial
prospect. He'll also be a wonderful pet and companion.

be a great family pet, especially if there are children.

MEET STINGER:
This is Stinger. He is a 100% deaf red male, 10 - 12 months of
age. For information about deaf dogs please visit
www.deafdog.org. Deaf dogs are readily trainable and deaf ACDs
quickly learn American sign language. Stinger knows the hand
signal for sit. He is generally good on leash, but pulls at
times. Stinger rides well in the car, but he is "busy"
& doesn't like to sit still. He is good with kids and
with other dogs. Stinger is up to date on all his vaccinations
and is micro-chipped.

MEET ELSIE:
Elsie, 8 mo. mottled Red ACD mix. Current on vaccinations,
de-wormed, on monthly preventions for hw and flea & tick. Not
altered, but will be prior to adoption. She weighs approximately
26#. Elsie came out of a high kill shelter in Nashville, TN,
where many rescue groups had fallen in love with her wonderful
personality and reached out to save her. She is a delightful
little cattle dog mix. We're not sure what she is missed
with, but Jack Russel comes to mind when she bounces while
herding the other dogs in our rescue. Elsie gets along well with
other dogs, although a little female dominant. We are working on
manners. She ignores cats and loves children. Elsie is crate
trained, house trained and leash trained. She is a very friendly
little girl, but like most of her breed, needs strong leadership
from her people to guide her towards appropriate behaviors. Elsie
is a very special little girl and deserves to finally have a
family of her own. She has towed a hard line and still smiles,
smiles, smiles.
